Porch Piracy and Purchase Security Highlights
Protect Against Porch Piracy with Purchase Security
Helping financial institutions protect their cardholders from the financial impact of porch piracy with valuable coverage
As e-commerce sales continue to grow, so does the frequency of porch piracy theft. Porch piracy is when a delivered package is stolen off the recipients doorstep. Proven difficult to combat, approximately 30% of Americans have already fallen victim* - with a spike in thefts around the holiday season.
Fortunately, the Purchase Security benefit can help. If an eligible account is used, Purchase Security can reimburse the card holder for the purchase price of their package in the event it is stolen during delivery.

Covering more than just porch piracy, Purchase Security protects new retail purchases made with a cardholder’s eligible account in the event the purchase is damaged or stolen within 90 days of the purchase date.
- A cardholder accidentally runs over their child’s new bike ...
- A cardholder’s new gas grill is stolen off their front porch ...
- A cardholder’s dog knocks their new camera to the ground and it breaks ...
All of these scenarios may be covered if the cardholder uses their eligible account to make the purchase and provides the appropriate documentation. Depending on the circumstances, the benefit will replace, repair, or reimburse the cardholder up to the total purchase price, up to the maximum amount designated.
Purchase Security coverage even extends to gifts bought for family or friends, as well as purchases made outside the United States, if they are paid for with an eligible account.
